Cultural Event for the Whole Family
Enjoy a fascinating taste of life on the Isle of Skye as Scottish crofter (sheep farmer) and lifelong traditional knitter, Yasmin Maughan, shares her journey to literally craft the life of her dreams. It's a challenging life, but one steeped in the sights, sounds and textures of ancient Scotland. Learn about raising rare native Hebredean sheep, shearing, spinning and knitting with the wool, making traditional Scottish gansey and Fair Isle garments, singing Gaelic songs, and eating delicious Scottish treats. Yes--tea and dessert is included! Even try your hand at a bit of knitting!
This is a perfect outing for Scotophiles, families who love to craft, or anyone interested in living a bit rough and self-sustaining, in a rugged and romantic setting.
We'll meet together in the cafeteria of Christ United Methodist Church, home of several worshiping communities. Faith Church Anglican is our host.
